ABOUT GGM UK
We run female-led courses in digital media skills. We offer a safe forum for girls to explore their creativity. By partnering with women media professionals, our GlobalGirls gain practical expertise to ignite social change and disrupt the mainstream narrative.
In August 2016, GlobalGirl Media UK (GGM UK) trained its first cohort of girls in digital media at South Thames College, Wandsworth. The 8 students, from diverse and under-served communities throughout London and the South East, learnt skills in reporting, video-making and blogging.
They visited the offices of the BBC, the largest newsroom in the world, where they watched our Ambassador, Yalda Hakim, reporting her show ‘Impact’ live on BBC World. And they tried their hand at anchoring a news show at the RT studios.

They created two award-winning films, ‘Stealing Intimacy’ about revenge porn which won a 2017 Gracies Award, and ‘Brexit Unveiled’, about the rise in attacks on Muslim women post-Brexit. The girls researched, planned, shot and edit-produced these films themselves.
Through GGM UK Newsroom, we continue to support our graduates with ongoing training, mentors, equipment, spaces for ideas-sharing, platforms for their content, invitations to special events and internships.

OUR MOTHER CHARITY

GlobalGirl Media UK (GGM UK) operates as an affiliate charity to the established, international organisation Global Girl Media (GGM).
GGM UK exists as a separate entity to GGM, maintaining full financial and organisational autonomy, but benefits from GGM’s global network, brand, curriculum and established business model.
The affiliated organisations share information, expertise and resources.
The cooperation works two ways:

-
It enables GGGM UK graduates to connect with their international peers, as well as share GGM UK content and work on a global distribution network, GGMN TV, and

-
It offers GGM’s graduates access to the stories and reports generated by GGM UK, broadening out the pool of information and support offered to all GlobalGirls.
